The United States of America (USA) is composed of 50 states. San Francisco is the 4th largest city in the State of California and the 14th most populous city in the United States. Located on the west coast of the USA, San Francisco rises on the tip of the San Francisco Peninsula and the city is the heart of the San Francisco Bay area.
San Francisco International Airport is located about 10 mi (16km) south of the city. You can reach downtown by taxi, private shuttle buses or public transportation system (BART- Bay Area Rapid Transit and SamTrans).

The Golden Gate is the strait joining San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean. Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate. The bridge is the second longest suspension bridge after Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York. Coit Tower located in the North Beach area is a 60 m high tower at the top of Telegraph Hill. This is the monument for the firefighters of San Francisco. The tower has splendid views of Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge. San Francisco Zoo at 1 Zoo Road is Northern California's largest zoological park and conservation center. There are 250 animal species in the zoo. Chinatown is one of the most amiable neighborhoods of the city. 30,000 Chinese live here. There are many museums and art centers in the San Francisco. California Academy of Sciences located in Golden Gate Park is one of the first ten largest natural history museums in the world. Steinhart Aquarium and Morrison Planetarium are located in the park. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) at the south of Market Street is a fundamental art museum and city landmark. The museum has a rich art collection on exhibit within its magnificent building.
San Francisco is a shopper's delight. Performing arts, popular music, festivals, street fairs and many cultural events occur in the city throughout the year. The San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet are among the major Classical and Opera venues in the city. San Francisco has an improv theater style special to the city culture. Improvisational theater is the form of theater in which actors use improvisational acting techniques. Folsom Street Fair (annual, September) is the world's largest leather event. The Chinese New Year Parade (annual, February) is a parade starting at Market Street and going on to Chinatown. Also, running races such as the Bay to Breakers and San Francisco Marathon are held in the city. San Francisco is an ideal city for a great range of sport activities and recreation facilities. The San Francisco Bay Area is made up of many cities, towns and communities. Sailing on the San Francisco Bay is one of the most entertaining activities in the city. More than 320 km of bicycle lanes are available in the city. To avoid the risks of the steep hills and aggressive motorists in the busy parts of the city, Golden Gate Park and the Presidio are fantastic places for cycling. The Embarcadero and Marina Green are fabulous places for in-line skating. Public tennis facilities are available at Golden Gate Park and Dolores Park.
