The journey that started with the incentive of the Chamber of Fashion of Italy established in 1958, gained momentum thanks to its ingenious and definitely creative designs, yet with more convenient prices than its Parisian likes. This northern industrial city has stood out even further as the interest in readymade garments increased. The designers were like at their homes ever after. In 1961, Milano became the headquarters of Vogue Italia. Along with the 1970s, as the designers such as Armani and Versace originated in Milano gained great fame, the city turned into a fashion capital.

When is the Milano Fashion Week?

A colourful shop window in Milano.

Milano Fashion Week will start on September 21 with the Emerging Talents Milano parade and end on September 28 with the Turtlehorn event and grand finale.

Do not be confused as we say the “Grand Finale”; we are talking about a digital “Grand Finale”. The completion of Duomo di Milano, the largest cathedral in Italy and the fourth largest in Europe, took more than 500 years. This breath-taking example of the gothic architecture stands right at the heart of Milano, at the Duomo Square. Duomo di Milano, where 40 thousand people can pray at the same time, is established on an area of 11 thousand 700 square metres. On the top of the Cathedral, where 135 bridges are located inside, stands the Madonna statue created by the sculptor Giuseppe Perego. The statue is made of solid gold and it is at an altitude of 108.5 metres. The reason for use of solid gold in the making of the Madonna statue is to ensure that Duomo di Milano not be lost under any conditions in the foggy and dark city of Milano.

Do shopping: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II offers its visitors an aesthetic experience beyond shopping.

Just when you have the opportunity to visit the heart of fashion, do not go back without stopping by one of the oldest shopping centres in history, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
