The 43rd \u0130stanbul Film Festival starts on April 17<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Organized by the \u0130stanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, the 43rd \u0130stanbul Film Festival takes place from April 17 to 28. Films from auteurs such as Wim Wenders and Koji Yakusho, among others, will be screened in six theaters: Atlas 1948, Beyo\u011flu Cinema, Cinewam City\u2019s 3, Cinewam City\u2019s 7, Kad\u0131k\u00f6y Cinema, and Sinematek. The \u0130stanbul Film Festival is one of our favorite April events and we\u2019re looking forward to this year\u2019s edition!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four special concerts for International Jazz Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u0130stanbul is hosting four jazz concerts on April 30 in honor of International Jazz Day. The U\u011fur G\u00fcbe\u015f Quartet will perform their debut album Unstable<\/em> at the Borusan Music House, while Amsterdam\/\u0130stanbul-based Mert Pekduraner and his band perform at Babylon; and Cherise, a new generation soul singer from England, performs at Salon \u0130KSV. The Portico Quartet, one of the most important groups in British modern jazz, take the stage at The Blind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crocodile Fever with famous actors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Acclaimed at the 2019 Edinburgh Theater Festival, Crocodile Fire<\/em> was described by The Guardian newspaper as \u201cFeminist Tarantino\u201d. Directed by Mehmet Ergen and starring Funda Eryi\u011fit, Hazar Erg\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc and Hidayet Erdin\u00e7, the play will be staged at Zorlu PSM on Tuesday, April 16, and at Caddebostan Cultural Center on Wednesday, April 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sakura Festival at Sabanc\u0131 University<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On April 2, Sabanc\u0131 University hosts the first open-air event of the year, starring the cherry blossoms that represent nature\u2019s rebirth. The Sakura Festival, commemorating the 100th anniversary of T\u00fcrkiye-Japan relations, features Kufuki and Yogetsu Akasaka, successful representatives of traditional Japanese music, along with Turkish musician Cem Adrian. The festival will also include workshops in origami, ikebana, shadoo (Japanese Calligraphy), sushi and fragrance, as well as a Kendo show and a Traditional Tea Ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tan\u0131d\u0131k Y\u00fczler<\/em> at Bar\u0131n Han<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Remzi Y\u0131lmaz\u2019s fourth solo exhibition, Tan\u0131d\u0131k Y\u00fczler<\/em>, opens at Bar\u0131n Han at 17.00 on April 2, World Autism Awareness Day. Tan\u0131d\u0131k Y\u00fczler<\/em>\u00a0 depicts a fairytale-like story inspired by metaphorical themes from everyday life and popular images.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 Ad\u0131mda Unutmak<\/em> by \u015eahika Tekand<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Written and directed by \u015eahika Tekand, 10 Ad\u0131mda Unutmak<\/em> examines today\u2019s passive and conformist human species through a tragicomic lens. Performances take place on April 28 and 29 at DasDas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A father-son showdown: Eksik<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Written and directed by Aksel Bonfil, Eksik<\/em> stars Levent Can, Hande Do\u011fandemir and Erdem Kaynarca, and focuses on the humorous moments that exist in the midst of pain, and the acknowledgment of our bonds, and our flaws. The 80-minute play will be performed at Atlas 1948, with a special two-for-one ticket offer on April 4, World Theater Day \u2013 purchase one ticket and receive one free ticket.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K\u0131r\u0131k Ufuk<\/em> at Galerist<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

K\u0131r\u0131k Ufuk<\/em>, Ay\u00e7a Telgeren\u2019s fifth solo exhibition at Galerist, explores the artist\u2019s relationship with the gallery space over time through her work and body. Without focusing, and accepting the scattered, she observes the unseen places, leaving the judgmental and rational tunnel of the eye and almost touching the building\u2019s interior with her works. K\u0131r\u0131k Ufuk<\/em> runs at Galerist until April 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring comes to the capital: The 38th Ankara Music Festival\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From April 4 to 30, the capital, Ankara, hosts more than 300 artists from 12 countries. The festival showcases distinguished examples of classical and baroque music, dance and jazz in the categories of symphonic concert, modern ballet, chamber music, and jazz from Japan, Germany, Czechia, Croatia, Russia, Hungary, Hungary, Georgia, Norway, Azerbaijan, France and Italy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
