What is a blue flag beach?<\/b><\/p><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Blue Flag is an international environmental award granted to beaches and marinas that meet the required standards.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Blue Flag beaches are evaluated by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in fifty countries. According to FEE, \u201cto qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.\u201d Thus, a Blue Flag qualification indicates that these areas meet standards of facility quality and cleanliness, as well as certain environmental conditions. We are pleased to note that T\u00fcrkiye, with 531 Blue Flag beaches, is second only to Spain and Greece in terms of Blue Flag-awarded beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criteria for Blue Flag status<\/b><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Blue Flag evaluations for beaches and marinas cover a number of criteria, including ecosystem and water values, accessibility to the beach, available facilities, cleanliness and safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top ranking in T\u00fcrkiye: Antalya\u2019s Blue Flag beaches<\/b><\/p><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Almost half of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Blue Flag beaches are in the Antalya province, with 229 beaches. In the city of Antalya, the following public beaches, all administered by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, were granted Blue Flag status for the first time this year: Lara 1 and Lara 2, Manavgat, Beldibi and \u00c7amyuva. In the Ka\u015f district, the iconic Kalkan, Kaputa\u015f and Patara beaches continue to carry the Blue Flag label, as do Cleopatra Beach in Alanya and many other beaches in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Antalya and Mu\u011fla, \u0130zmir has the most Blue Flag beaches in T\u00fcrkiye. Between the city center and the surrounding provinces, there are 66 Blue Flag beaches. The Urla Sand Sea public beach was the city\u2019s first Blue Flag beach, while the Karaburun Aquarium Beach, \u00c7e\u015fme’s renowned Ilica public beach and the Dikili municipal beach are among the most popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lovely lakeshore: Mollakasim, Van\u2019s Blue Flag beach <\/b><\/p><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The landlocked Van province has no sea or ocean access, but it does have a remarkable \u2013 and large \u2013 lake. About a sixty-minute drive from the city center of Van is the Mollakas\u0131m public beach, on the border of the Mollakas\u0131m neighborhood in the Tu\u015fba district. This delightful lakefront Blue Flag beach is popular among local residents as well as tourists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer in the city: Istanbul\u2019s Blue Flag beaches<\/b><\/p><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Istanbul province includes the mega-metropolis of Istanbul, as well as various districts such as \u015eile, which is on the Black Sea. Istanbul\u2019s two Blue Flag beaches are both in \u015eile. The Ala Kad\u0131nlar beach, which serves only women, draws visitors from the city of Istanbul and its surrounding districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mu\u011fla province, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s holiday paradise, has the next highest number of Blue Flag sites, with 111 beaches and eight marinas. Let\u2019s start in Bodrum, where the Blue Flag beaches include Bitez \u00d6zg\u00fcr, G\u00fcmbet , G\u00f6lk\u00f6y, G\u00f6lt\u00fcrkb\u00fck\u00fc, Kumbah\u00e7e, Ortakent and Yal\u0131\u00e7iftlik. In Dat\u00e7a, the Karaincir and Hastanealt\u0131 beaches are outstanding, as are Fethiye\u2019s Kumburnu, Belce\u011fiz and B\u00fcy\u00fck Hayl\u0131k beaches. Ula and Marmaris each have beautiful public beaches, namely Akyaka \u0130\u00e7meler, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Sea expansiveness: Blue Flag beaches in Ordu, Bart\u0131n and Samsun<\/b><\/p><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Karadeniz \u2013 the Black Sea region \u2013 is known for its incredible nature but has recently gained acclaim for its surfing facilities and lovely beaches. Among these are Inkum, the Blue-Flag beach in Bart\u0131n; and the Ordu public beach, in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood. In Samsun, the Omtel, K\u00f6rfez, G\u00fczelyal\u0131 and \u0130nci beaches are popular with visitors, as well as Samsun residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Marmara province, the Bal\u0131kesir district offers a number of beaches, including Duba Beach in Ayval\u0131k, the famous Sar\u0131msakl\u0131 Beach, and the Kapri and Kumadas\u0131 beaches. In addition, Burhaniye has the \u00d6ren public beach, and Edremit the Ak\u00e7ay Sar\u0131k\u0131z public beach. in Edremit. offers a total of 31 Blue Flag beaches, and \u00c7anakkale, which are the most popular cities of the Marmara Region, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In \u00c7anakkale, the Geyikli Municipality public beach in Ezine is quite popular. There\u2019s also the Hamzakoy public beach in Gelibolu, along with five other beaches in the city center affiliated with the municipality. And we must mention the Blue Flag beaches of Kocaeli, which is not far from \u0130stanbul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
