These offer beauties unique to T\u00fcrkiye: a layer of tuff soil, created millions of years ago by lava and ash from the volcanic Hasan, Erciyes and G\u00fcll\u00fc mountains, formed unusual shapes due to erosion by rain and wind over time. While our three-day trip limits us somewhat, you can opt to tour one or more of the underground cities of <\/span><b>Kaymakl\u0131, Derinkuyu, \u00d6zkonak, Tatlarin, Maz\u0131, \u00d6zl\u00fcce and Sivasa G\u00f6k\u00e7etoprak<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Cappadocia region<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In this blog, we\u2019ll discuss Kaymakl\u0131, one of the most popular underground cities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Kaymakl\u0131 Underground City<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dating from the Hittite era, this extraordinary underground city carved into tuff rock has a history of nearly three thousand years. With eight subterranean levels, the expansive underground city featured rooms and areas suitable for any community, including sleeping rooms and public halls, wine storage depots, water cellars, wells and churches. Many of the underground passages had massive circular stones that were used to block off rooms and tunnels in case of intruders.  \r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Three valleys in Nev\u015fehir<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>G\u00fcll\u00fcdere Valley<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>G\u00fcll\u00fcdere Valley, set between the G\u00f6reme and \u00c7avu\u015fin villages, hosts a walking track with wonderful views of fairy chimneys. Therefore, the valley is considered a priority stop among the places to visit in Nev\u015fehir. \r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>G\u00fcvercinlik Valley<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A visit to the G\u00fcvercinlik Valley, where you can observe pigeons residing in picturesque \u201cpigeon houses\u201d carved into the rocks, is an enjoyable way to spend time in Nev\u015fehir. There is also a wonderful 4,100-meter hiking trail in the G\u00fcvercinlik Valley.\r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Love (<\/b><b><i>A\u015fk<\/i><\/b><b>) Valley&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you see it, you will understand how Love Valley acquired its name. As the launch point for many of Cappadocia\u2019s famous hot air balloon tours, the 4,900-meters Love Valley presents a fairy-tale landscape populated by dramatic fairy chimneys and other rock structures.  Love Valley is also known for its wonderful sunset views, which makes it among the top attractions to visit in Nev\u015fehir. \r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Nev\u015fehir museums and historical sites<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nev\u015fehir Museum: Founded in 1967, the Nev\u015fehir Museum has 13,160 works according to the 1997 census. Among the artifacts, archaeological and ethnographic items and manuscripts stand out. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00dcrg\u00fcp Museum: In the exhibition hall of the \u00dcrg\u00fcp Museum, opened to visitors since 1971, archaeological and ethnographic items from prehistoric times to the Ottoman Period are exhibited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kur\u015funlu Mosque: The mosque in the Damat \u0130brahim Pasha Complex, which was built in 1726-1727 by Nev\u015fehirli Damat \u0130brahim Pasha, the grand vizier of the Tulip Age, stands out among the historical places to visit in Nev\u015fehir.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hac\u0131 Bekta\u015f Veli M\u00fczesi: The complex, founded by the promient 13th-century Turkish mystic Hac\u0131 Bekta\u015f\u0131 Veli, was organized as an ethnography museum in 1964 and opened to visitors. The beautiful district of Avanos, built along both sides of the river, is considered a center of culture and art in the Nev\u015fehir province. Visitors can observe the most authentic pottery and wine production and carpet weaving in the Avanos district, a top attraction in Nev\u015fehir. As well, the Zelve Valley, Priests (Rahipler) Valley, \u00d6zkonak Underground City, and the Saruhan Caravanserai are nearby.\r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Ihlara Valley<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While a visit to the beautiful Ihlara Valley in Cappadocia may require expending a little more energy than usual, it is worth it. Located 85 km from G\u00f6reme, the Ihlara Valley is certainly among the must-see places in Nev\u015fehir. The gorgeous canyon features walking and hiking trails along with dozens of rock-carved churches and other structures. Please note that one of the descents into the valley is via a steep stairway \u2013 but afterwards, a view of heaven on earth will be waiting for you.\r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Zelve &#8211; Pa\u015faba\u011flar Archaeological Site<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Five kilometers from Avanos and just one kilometer from Pa\u015faba\u011flar\u0131, the Zelve-Pa\u015faba\u011flar Archaeological Site is open to visitors daily between 08.00-17.00. The Zelve-Pa\u015faba\u011flar Archaeological Site is where the famous fairy chimneys of Cappadocia are most densely located, making this destination a must-see place to visit in Nev\u015fehir province. Consisting of three valleys Zelve, is also home to the churches of Bal\u0131kl\u0131, \u00dcz\u00fcml\u00fc, and Geyikli, which are significant for Christians. As well, the monasteries, tunnels and mills in the area offer picturesque landscapes. \r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>\u00c7avu\u015fin Village<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c7avu\u015fin Village presents a warm atmosphere among the historical places of Nev\u015fehir. Like much of the Cappadocia region, \u00c7avu\u015fin features fairy chimneys, old churches and historical structures.
