At the Turkish Airlines Blog, one of our aims is to deliver content written by our esteemed employees to our readers, especially via the Crew Insights category. In this way, we hope to function as an organic bridge between the Turkish Airlines team and the Blog’s readers.
We value diverse voices and, to ensure that the readability and shareability of the Turkish Airlines Blog remains at a high level, we set certain standards. This guide presents the criteria we use to select the content for the Trip Ideas category.
What topics can I write about?
The Turkish Airlines Blog has 19 subcategories within the Trip Ideas main category. These include Unique Destinations, Family, Shopping, Nature, Outdoor, Photography, Camping, Winter, Romantic, Art, Sports, Urban, History, Trend, Summer, Gourmet, Wellness, and New Normal Holiday. In brief, these categories cover the following.
- Unique Destinations: Lesser known or undiscovered holiday paradises.
- Urban: Cosmopolitan urban destinations, such as Istanbul, London or Paris, with a distinctive spirit and rhythm.
- Trend: Ethical and eco-friendly travel, including train trips, as well as emerging travel trends around various cities, countries and cultures.
- Wellness: Holiday concepts and lifestyle destinations that promote health and serenity, including spas, thermal springs or yoga retreats.
- New Normal Holiday: Travel planning, holiday concepts and destination cities during the pandemic period.
How do I choose a title and subtitles?
If you want your Turkish Airlines Blog entry to be accessible, we recommend the structure below. This is not required, but it can help your article reach more readers.
Ubersuggest is one of these tools.
Using Ubersuggest, you can view Google’s most searched queries regarding the subject or theme you’re writing about. You can compose the titles and subtitles in such a way that they include keywords in the searched queries.
For example, say you’ve written an entry on Anatolian Civilizations, to be published in the History sub-category of the Trip Ideas category. A Google search for “Anatolian Civilizations” will reveal the most searched subtopics (the “keyword” and “volume” columns). In addition to Ubersuggest, there are numerous other, similar tools. The “related searches” section at the bottom of the page in Google searches is also a useful resource for choosing a title and subtitle.
You can create your article’s title hierarchy according to these sources. Below you can see sample hierarchies for two titles: “Spanish Beaches” and “Anatolian Civilizations”.

How should a good article flow?
Content within the Trip Ideas category will most likely be a destination (“Rome”), a route (“3 days on the Adriatic coast”) or a list (“Europe's best ski resorts”), though of course there are exceptions. To create a logical flow, consider what your reader might wish to know about this particular destination, route or list. For example, Rome:
- What to do in Rome
- When to visit Rome
- Must-see places in Rome
- What to eat in Rome
- Where to take the best photos in Rome
These topics can be expanded upon according to the theme of the blog entry (see the subcategories in the Trip Ideas category, such as food, romantic, family, summer vacation, history). The flow of the article is determined by a ddressing these issues.
Can I have visuals in my article?
Each Turkish Airlines Blog entry includes at least a few images. If you cannot provide these images, the Turkish Airlines Blog team will select stock images. If you have suggestions, you can visit the website www.istock.com and send us the links to your preferred images.
We generally suggest that each heading and subtitle have a related, relevant image. For example, if a subtitle refers to “Roman meals”, an image related to Italian or Roman cuisine would be appropriate.
We prefer horizontal (landscape) rather than vertical (portrait) photos due to the blog format. To maintain a visual standard, we prefer that photos published on the Turkish Airlines Blog are unmanipulated and not heavily filtered. We take special care to use photographs that are as bright as possible, that clearly show the figures in the composition, and evoke positive feelings for the reader (joy, fun, entertainment, etc.).
Also, when you select an image, keep in mind that it may be resized and/or cropped according to device format (mobile, tablet, etc.), so choose accordingly.
Tips for creating an engaging post
- Writing the article in first person creates a connection between you and the reader.
- Discuss or describe experiences that you feel good about.
- Discuss or describe daily incidents or life in your destination, particularly if they are new to you – and therefore, perhaps to your readers.
- Humor is always welcome, as long as it is not offensive.
- Keep your article to a manageable size – no more than one or two pages.
- Try to give readers what you’d want from a travel article.
- Provide useful tips for everyday life in your location.
- Street food is the most mobilized form of social culture.
- Readers are also curious about why you’d return to a country or city.
- Let the ideas of “Why come here”, “What to do here”, and “When to come here” guide your focus.
