A VACATION IN ÇEŞME, Cemre Özer | 19.08.2016

Not a summer passes by without us seeing Çeşme, Alaçatı, and İzmir; without us hearing Greek songs on the radio, without us feeling excited to see the pinwheels turning, or without us inhaling the wonderful smells of the sea and resins…

Çeşme—the place that makes my dreams about those pure beauties, tranquility, and entertainment that I long for throughout the year come true—is a coastal region connected to İzmir. It is one of the most important vacation spots in Turkey whose popularity is increasing day by day thanks to Alaçatı, Ilıca, the quality beaches, incredible cuisine, and lively nightlife.

If you would like to spend a great day swimming in the warm waters of Aya Yorgi Bay or listening to good music while having a mastic gum frozen drink under the shade of trees among nature, then Babylon Çeşme

If you think, "A little thermal water will be good for my skin", then the Aquente Warm Pool at Paşalimanı is just the place! The constantly refreshed thermal pools will please anyone who loves hot water and the cool sea will please those who prefer cool water. Whatever the moment calls for…

But for those who say, "I just want some sand... To make sand castles and to write my name in the sand, to sit by the waves", Quente Beach Club, which is located within the same bay is waiting for you!

If you think to yourself, "I want to have lots of fun, dance my heart out, party hard, I really want to do these things " then the two venues you need to keep in mind are Kafe Pi and Fly-Inn Beach... Turkcell and Vodafone have many discount offers in Çeşme. You can find out about these discounts from your GSM operator’s website before visiting these venues.

Fun by the sea isn't all that’s on offer; let's move on to the nightlife... I recommend a visit to Çeşme or Alaçatı, wherever you may be. But be warned! Don't forget to take a top with you when you are going out at night. In a movie that I watched, a father was giving his son the following advice: "The thermostats of women never work right; they are either too hot or too cold but generally very cold. This is why you should have something they can wear in your car". Even though we all know this, unfortunately we forget it all the time. If you want to enjoy the evening you should be on the safe side.

For those who love fish and rakı, there are many options that you will enjoy in Çeşme. Don't forget that there are lots of tourists so make reservations at the places you want to try beforehand. If you are struggling to decide on a restaurant, get some help from the Foursquare app; make your choice depending on the guest rating and comments, then make your reservation. That way, you can avoid walking door to door.

By the way, we are in no way responsible for the shopping women will enjoy while walking in the streets of Alaçatı. All those colorful and sparkling counters are just impossible to say no to.

If you think, "We fancy going somewhere like a beach hut, a friendly place, an enjoyable spot, somewhere that will make us happy, and where we can just sit back and relax with beautiful cocktails" then Şaşkın, which is in Alaçatı is the place for you.

If you think, "We should have fun, and dance for so long that we can’t feel our feet" Port Alaçatı is a place with many options that you can switch between if you ever get bored in any of its venues.

We expect those who think, "We are caught up in the romance. We are going to enjoy the moonlight under the stars beside the sound of the waves with our glasses of wine" to come to the beach. Of course some of you can also experience this in your heavenly boutique hotels, next to the pool by candlelight with beautiful music.

After that much alcohol we must give a word of warning; there are valet services available so do not drive while under the influence of alcohol. With a little research beforehand, you can use the premium services of different credit cards and cell operators to use the valet services free of charge.

What do you mean we are going back today?! How can we leave such beauty and go back?? Well since we are heading back, we can take some of these delights (especially those appealing to our stomachs) back home.  Sakız macunu (mastic gum paste) and  sakızlı Türk kahvesi (mastic gum Turkish coffee) must be in your luggage on the way back.

As we bought our tickets for the evening we decide to make the most of the time we have left. We buy ice cream, jump into our rental car and watch the pinwheels turn across the colors of the sky before sunset as we find ourselves in Kordon. We have some fish soup and enjoy the view as the sun is setting. We have our Turkish coffees that will relieve the day’s fatigue on the plane, to add to our happiness.
