    Spirit of the city: Hamburg

    What to see

    Kunsthalle Hamburg

The island located across Stadthausbrücke bridge is an ideal starting spot to discover the city. This narrow island is connected to Neustadt (New Town) and Rödingsmarkt by several big bridges, and is home to the Steinberger Hotel, and Neuer Wall, one of Hamburg’s most exclusive shopping streets. It is flanked by Alsterfleet channel, which connects the lakes to the Elbe River. Hamburg’s Kunsthalle, located in the center, is the biggest art museum in Germany. The museum comprises of two buildings connected to each other with an underground passage. The art gallery of Hamburg’s Kunsthalle has a collection of medieval and 20th century works of art.

    Plants and Flowers Park

The Plants and Flowers Park, located close to the Saint Pauli district and famous Reeperbahn street, is another charming spot in the city. The park has numerous playgrounds for children. You can visit the tropical houses of the old botanical garden and the Japanese gardens famous for their tea rooms. After your trip to the Plants and Flowers Park, you can visit the Wallanlagen Park which is located to the east of the Plants and Flowers Park. Wallanlagen resembles a green hallway that flourishes between Dammtor and Saint Pauli, and contains many more playgrounds and picnic spots. Among the other important cultural spots in Hamburg, the two ships Cap San Diego and Rickmer Rickmers that have been turned into museums are particularly popular.
