The Pioneertown Motel: A trip to the Wild West

    pioneertown motel

If you’re a fan of old westerns (as in the movies), you might love the Pioneertown Motel. The motel is in Pioneertown, which was originally built as a 32,000 acre “all inclusive filming location” complete with 19th-century style buildings, along with stables, sound stages and saloons. In the 1960s, a private investor purchased the town, intending to establish it as a town near the Bear Mountain ski resort. While that didn’t quite materialize, Pioneertown persisted, becoming an artists’ colony of sorts, with galleries, vintage stores and a saddle maker. Guests come to the Pioneertown Motel to experience the Wild West atmosphere as well as to go horseback riding at the ranches in the area and hike in Joshua Tree National Park and the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve. The property features 19 rooms, a food court, free Wi-Fi, live music, and other amenities.

In addition to giraffes, the hotel provides a variety of other options for guests and the location is ideal for excursions into Nairobi. Giraffe Manor is set in a mansion built in 1932, with a garden annex opened in 2011; its amenities include a pool, a spa and a fitness center.
