Springtime in the city is great – but seeing nature come alive in a rural environment is an entirely different experience. Say goodbye to the stress of urban living and embark on a colorful adventure: the lakes of Türkiye welcome you to tranquil splendor!

Serenity amid a beautiful array of colors: Sapanca Lake

Sapanca Lake, on the border of the Kocaeli and Sakarya provinces.

Beautiful Sapanca Lake has a tranquil atmosphere and turquoise waters ringed by picturesque reeds – and it is less than two hours’ drive from İstanbul. Sapanca Lake is an ideal weekend getaway, offering hotels, picnic spots, restaurants and trout farms in the vicinity. The area is terrific for bicycling or walking along the clear waters – or simply relaxing in the shade of lush plane trees. Slightly farther away from the lake is Maşukiye, another great recreation spot.

    Where is Sapanca Lake?

Sapanca Lake is in the Eastern Marmara Region, straddling the borders of two provinces. It is bordered on the west by Kocaeli and on the east by Sakarya. The distance between Sapanca and İstanbul is around 135 kilometers.

Magnificent in every season: Lake Abant

    Lake Abant, Bolu.

Lake Abant is a breathtakingly beautiful destination that retains its popularity throughout the year. As part of the protected Lake Abant Nature Park, the area has remained relatively undeveloped and is particularly lovely in the spring months. Naturally, nature walks are among its attractions, though camping, cycling and horseback riding facilities are also available.

    Where is Lake Abant?

Lake Abant is in the Abant Mountain, 34 kilometers southwest of Bolu. It is 258 kilometres from İstanbul and 225 kilometres from Ankara.

A natural heritage: Yedigöller (Seven Lakes)

    Yedigöller National Park
    Yedigöller, Bolu.

The Yedigöller route has been described as a reflection of heaven on earth. Set in the Yedigöller National Park, Yedigöller is actually seven lakes: Büyükgöl, Seringöl, Deringöl, Nazlıgöl, Küçükgöl, İncegöl, and Sazlıgöl. The trees surrounding these lakes include poplar, oak, hornbeam, beech, maple, elm, fir tree, hazelnut, and linden – a lush carpet of green. Infinite peace and the fragrance of spring flora welcome visitors to Yedigöller National Park!

    Where is Yedigöller (Seven Lakes)?

Yedigöller is between the Yığılca and Mengen districts of Bolu. Yedigoller is 310 kilometers from İstanbul and 214 kilometers from Ankara. However, due to the roughness of the roads, the drive may take longer than expected.

The sharpest tone of blue: Lake Salda

Lake Salda, known as Türkiye's Maldives.
    Lake Salda, Burdur.

The energy of being on the road is especially intense in the spring, especially if the road leads to Lake Salda. With clear blue water and white sand, Lake Salda is one of the most striking natural sites in Türkiye. It is a crater lake and one of the country’s deepest; and features magnesium-rich water ringed by black pine forests. For more information on Lake Salda – which has an intriguing resemblance to the Jezero Crater on Mars – click here!

    Where is Lake Salda?

Lake Salda is five kilometres from Burdur’s Yeşilova district and 35 kilometers from the city center.
