The first thing that caught my attention in Kuala Lumpur was the friendliness of the people. I can say that it is very easy to be a tourist here because of the helpfulness of the residents and overall layout of the city.
You can reach the city center from the airport by two types of Metro systems; the normal Metro or the rapid KLIA Express. You can also tour the city easily by renting a vehicle. One of my favorite things about Malaysia was the inexpensive gasoline (40 cents per liter!).
The most popular and dominating skyscraper is the Petronas Twin Towers, the architecture is said to be inspired by the five pillars of Islam. This 88-story building consists of two towers connected by a bridge in the middle. The bridge is open to and visited by flow of tourists. Do not miss the spectacular views at night from the high-rise buildings.

Another important structure in the city is the Kuala Lumpur Tower. You can spend an evening and take in the view while eating at the revolving restaurant at the top of this 335 meter tall telecommunications tower known locally as “Menara KL”.
The forest area around the Kuala Lumpur Tower is called Bukit Nanas. The natural vegetation offers an ideal environment to spend the day
The Batu Caves are one of the “must sees” of Kuala Lumpur. The “Batu Caves” is a complex of Hindu temples and shrines. There is a 42 meter tall statue at the entrance. You reach the caves by climbing the almost 300 steep steps.
Malaysia is also famous for its mosque designs. The National Mosque (Masjid Negara) is the best-known. But other mosques like Masjid Jamek are worth a visit.

There are more than 50 shopping centers in the city. The 4th and 8th largest shopping centers in the world are in Kuala Lumpur. For shopping and souvenirs you can go to Central Market, Chinatown and Bukit Bintang.
On the top floor of the Pavilion Mall in the Bukit Bintang district there is a Turkish restaurant “Bosphorus”. If you do not like Malaysian food you can try this place. In Malaysia you will find helal food packaging and preparation certificates in restaurant windows.
Kuala Lumpur is home to Asia’s largest amusement park Sunway Lagoon. An amusement park with an extreme sports park, a horror park, a water park (with the world’s largest wave pool) and a zoo.
Among the other places in the city that must be seen are the Islamic Arts Museum and the Bird Park.
