    Discover OMM training programs in February

    The first destination on our February events itinerary is Eskişehir. This February, the Odunpazarı Modern Museum (OMM) brings together art enthusiasts through engaging workshops suitable for all ages. Running concurrently with the Ehlikeyif exhibition throughout the month, the workshops offer enriching art experiences for adults and children. This month, “In the Footsteps of Inspirers with OMM (OMM’la İlham Verenlerin İzinde)”, supported by the Hüsnü Özyeğin Foundation, continues with a free workshop program. These include the “Punch Needle” Workshop with Studio Pinprick; the Sustainable Solutions Workshop’s “I Make Self-Portraits from Waste Materials (Atık Malzemelerden Otoportre Yapıyorum),” and “The Magical World of Mosaics (Mozaiklerin Büyülü Dünyası).” For more information and the workshop schedule, please visit the OMM website.

    Maria in theaters on February 21

    Maria, a much-anticipated event in February, unveils the intricacies of a passionate love story intertwined with a life rich in art. Featuring Oscar winner Angelina Jolie in the role of the iconic opera singer Maria Callas, and the esteemed Haluk Bilginer as her great love, Aristotle Onassis, the film also includes performances by Pierfrancesco Favino and Alba Rohrwacher. Maria will be available in theaters beginning February 21.

    Yalın set to perform at Ankara Ato Congresium on February 15-16

    Yalın, known for his popular contributions to Turkish pop music through his singing and songwriting, is set to meet his fans in Ankara. Yalın performs on the Ato Congresium stage on February 15 and 16.

    The Velveteen Rabbit: Stories for the young and the young at heart 

    Margery Williams’ The Velveteen Rabbit, a story adored globally and frequently referenced in popular culture, is being adapted for the stage by Alper Kul. The tale, translated into Turkish as Kadife Tavşan, showcases the musical journey of Ali and the Velveteen Rabbit, featuring renowned actors like Aslı Tandoğan, Yosi Mizrahi, and Aybars Kaya. The one-act play is at Maximum Uniq on February 23.

    ‘Women’s Play Festival’ touring eight cities

    The Women’s Play Festival, set to engage audiences in eight cities this year, debuts in the capital city. The Ankara program of the festival, featuring five plays over five days, is scheduled for February 3-7. The lineup includes İyiyim, Fok Derisi Kavuşma!, Yaban Arısı, Hikayesinde Senden Bahsettiand Herkes Yolunda. The festival runs until March 27, with upcoming stops following the capital being Aydın, Bandırma, Konak, Manisa, Muğla, Çanakkale, and Ayvalık.

    Unforgettable romance classics showcased at Beykoz Kundura this February

    “Kundura Cinema’s Memory,” a film program curated for the fifth anniversary of Kundura Cinema, stands out as a must-see event in Istanbul this month. Hollywood’s most memorable films, spotlighting legendary actors and iconic scenes, will be brought to life on the Kundura Cinema screen in their restored copies. 

    The program features Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca (1942), a wartime love story that etched Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman into the annals of cinema; Gilda (1946), a film noir directed by Charles Vidor and starring Rita Hayworth; and Roman Holiday (1953), a romantic comedy directed by William Wyler that earned Audrey Hepburn the Best Actress Oscar. Additionally, Billy Wilder’s comedy Some Like It Hot (1959) stars Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, while Leo McCarey’s poignant 1957 romance An Affair to Remember will be highlighted with a special screening on February 14, Valentine’s Day.

    An adaptation of True West: Coyotes, Crickets and Us

    Featuring the talented duo of Buğra Gülsoy and Serhat Teoman alongside Burak Sarımola and Ayşe Lebriz Berkem, the one-act play Coyotes, Crickets and Us (Cırcır Böcekleri İtler ve Biz), a modern adaptation of Sam Shepard’s True West, continues to engage theatergoers throughout February. The play, acclaimed since its debut, takes the stage on February 8 at İzmir Bostanlı Suat Taşer. Additional performances are on February 10 at Fişekhane (matinee soiree), and on February 23 at the Eskişehir Vehbi Koç Congress Center.
