5.5 Meters under the water: Under, in Lindesnes

Under, the first underwater restaurant in Europe, was founded in 2019 in Lindesnes, in Norway’s Sørlandet region. Set in the icy waters of the North Atlantic amid a rare marine ecosystem, Under means both “under” and “miracle” in Norwegian. As an experience that does justice to both words, Under is worth a trip to Norway. Designed by Snøhetta, one of the country’s most famous architectural firms, Under is a sleek and sophisticated establishment serving Norwegian fish and seafood and local produce, prepared by Michelin award-winning chefs. In addition, the restaurant incorporates a marine research center. Click here for flights to Norway.
Dinner in the Sky, in Brussels

You may have heard of the Dinner in the Sky experience, which comes to life in different cities worldwide. In the Belgian incarnation, guests are lifted to a height of 150 feet via a 120-ton crane and the festivities begin. In the mechanism, where diners are secured to their chairs with seat belts and the chef is within a harness, 32 guests can be hosted apart from the staff. Meals are prepared in an open kitchen surrounded by tables. Dinner in the Sky, which we can count among the most extraordinary dining experiences in the world, is presented in Kuala Lumpur, Riyadh, and Singapore. A flight to Brussels is the first step.

At the restaurants in this series, our feet rarely touch the ground. From Canada, we head east to Koh Kood, Thailand’s most sparsely populated island. At the high-end Soneva Kiri Resort, food is served in a bamboo gondola 20 meters above the ground. In the dining area, designed by local artisans, a two-hour gourmet meal and one-hour tea service are presented by highly experienced waiters. Dinner on safari: Sapi Concession, Zimbabwe

We are on the continent of Africa, in Zimbabwe. Eating at Sapi Concession was described by Travel and Leisure magazine as a “once in a lifetime” experience – this is not wrong! The magazine interviewed safari enthusiast Chris Liebenberg, who said, “One of the best meals I’ve had in my safari experience was the delicious chicken dish with dried peaches, mangoes, and pineapple. It turned out that the food was prepared under the embers for a whole evening, but we were completely unaware of it, none of the guests knew what was going on.”
