With this account, managed by our writer team, we welcome all who love travel and exploration to enjoy these blog posts. And we gently remind our readers of the delight to be found in 'hitting the road'. As Tolstoy said: “All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a stranger comes to town.”

Camp at an altitude of 2,800!

Nemrut Crater Lake, the second-largest crater lake in Türkiye and the world at large has an altitude of 2,800. Located in the Tatvan district of Bitlis, the lake continues to attract local and foreign camping enthusiasts, and who can blame them, Nemrut Crater Lake boasts a unique ambiance and untouched wilderness that is majestic by day and just as magnificent by night. The lake has been awarded by the European destinations of excellence Project, which campers like to canoe and raft on. The best season to camp at Nemrut Crater Lake is in the autumn. During the autumn time, the birch trees in Nemrut are covered in pastel colors which enhances the spectacular landscape.

    Camp and climb!

How about spending a night at the foothills of Mount Süphan? This mountain is one of the tallest mountains in Türkiye at 4,058 meters high. Şekerpınarı or the Süphan highland are great camp spots based in the vicinity of the mountain. Mount Süphan is a popular mountaineering spot in Türkiye and the perfect opportunity for those that have any mountaineering experience. When you reach the summit, you will be greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Lake Van.

The splendid summit is blanketed in snow all year round, but the best time to visit Mount Süphan on your camping, climbing trip is any time between September and June. During this time, poppy flowers spring up and decorate the beautiful shades of green against the azure blue backdrop of Nemrut Crater Lake. We recommend that you stock up at the city center for any items you may need on your way as there are no private campsites in the area.
