Beaches
South Bay: Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach
Los Angeles is a sprawling city with a number of regions. The South Bay is home to some well-known beach cities, such as Manhattan Beach, with its wide sandy beach and high-end shopping and dining; and Hermosa Beach, popular among surfers and volleyball players. As well, there’s Redondo Beach, known for its seafood restaurants.
Venice Beach
Arguably one of the world’s most famous beaches, Venice Beach is known for its beachfront boardwalk, its “Muscle Beach” area, the Venice Fishing Pier and the Skatepark, and a colorful street culture. In addition, this lively and vibrant neighborhood is home to some architectural and artistic gems.
The Original Farmers Market
The Original Farmers Market, a favorite among locals and visitors, is considered one of the best places to visit in Los Angeles. The market features stalls selling prepared foods and local dishes along with local and regional products.
Grand Central Market
With over a century of history, the Grand Central Market has a diverse range of shops selling fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, baked goods, coffee, ice cream and much more.
Warner Bros. Studios

Ovation Hollywood
In addition to a bowling alley and numerous shops and eateries, this lively shopping and entertainment complex houses the ornate TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. The Dolby Theater, where the Academy Awards are hosted, is also at Ovation Hollywood.
Griffith Park
Griffith Park, in the Santa Monica Mountains, is one of the country’s largest municipal parks, covering more than 4,210 acres. There are hiking and biking paths, along with camping, horseback riding, swimming, golf, picnicking and tennis facilities; the park also houses an open-air concert hall, the Travel Town Museum, the Griffith Observatory and the Los Angeles Zoo.
NoHo Arts District
This vibrant neighborhood is home to theaters, cafes, shops, live music, art galleries and other attractions. The Saturday Farmers’ Market in NoHo is also worth visiting.
Descanso Gardens
A favorite among the places to visit in Los Angeles is Descanso Gardens. Covering around 150 acres, this lovely botanical park contains the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and a Camellia Forest, along with oak forests and exhibits of native and edible plants. A quaint train runs through the gardens; there’s also a gift shop and dining facilities.
