    Ode to coffee

In İstanbul Coffee Festival, dozens of types of delicious coffees await the visitors of the festival.

You must have heard of… Coffee is the most traded product after crude oil in the world; it is so precious. All over the world, about half a trillion cups of coffee are consumed per year. The statistics show that 95 out of 100 people in Türkiye like coffee very much; no doubt that we are good at good tastes!

    Rewind the date

The coffee fruit passes through long processes from the tree to the cups.

There are numerous stories on the history of coffee and how it has entered our lives, none of which is definite. The most well-known is the story of the goats; have a listen: Rumour has it that the Arabs shepherding within the borders of Abyssinia – today’s Ethiopia – observed that the goats stayed awake for days, moreover they were quite energetic. Consequently, people searched for the reason. They were surprised to find out that the animals were consuming a plant which was not much common. As they took the plant to a wise dervish, it appeared that this fruit had similar effects on humans too. The plant that we call coffee in our day used to be ground and mixed into bread dough… Over time, that coffee started to be boiled in water and drunk, and then it has survived to this day.
